ColoHouse

ColoHouse is a local provider that isn't a household brand name but it doesn't take away from solid mission critical specs they offer.

Our take. They offer a mission critical colocation and are also SSAE 16 audited annually. They offer flexible colocation options and have a good variety of carriers in their 2 facilities. They do not offer cloud or managed services and have chosen to focus on colocation.

Digital Realty Trust

You get much value for your IT spend with DRT. They offer flexibility in their power density which allows you to save money if you aren’t cramming multiple blade chassis into your rack. Although you can cram a bunch of blade chassis into your rack if you want to. They feature excellent interconnection options and they have extremely robust infrastructure.

Flexential

ViaWest has recently merged with Peak10 after acquiring iNetU. They offer colocation, HIPAA compliant cloud and a full suite of managed services.

Our Take: The ViaWest product suite is broad but with solid execution due to some strategic acquisitions. ViaWest has long held excellent datacenter properties in top markets. Peak10 offered robust facilities in smaller US markets while iNetU offered mission critical public and private cloud services with a specialization around HIPAA compliance.

CoreSite

CoreSite builds mission critical facilities which they offer for very competitive rates with good interconnectivity and many certifications.

Our take. They excel at colocation and interconnectivity. Even with their robust build costs they don't appear to charge a premium for their space. CoreSite doesn't offer managed services directly.

Equinix

You are buying some of the best interconnected and mission critical colocation on the planet. They will certainly not be the cheapest of prices but you will get a solid value. No client, partner or investor can say you took a short cut when it choosing Equinix. You can do some interesting multi campus connections between the facilities since they are interconnected. Businesses that require interconnections between various networks rely on Equinix to give them solid access. Major public cloud providers also are available through direct connections.

QTS

QTS is known for their mission critical and large facilities. They offer colocation and a full suite of managed services that include cloud, disaster recover and traditional managed hosting services.

Our Take: We've worked with QTS in the past and the clients we've helped choose QTS don't regret it. Having the full suite of services also means that you can get out of the self managing business and have someone else completely take over their environment. Their past acquisition of Carpathia hosting gave them even more management capabilities than before.
